24 ways to drive your parents mad

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Whilst browsing around, I managed to find a site with lists of ways to really annoy your parents.  There are some quite interesting ones in here, including some that I’m sure a certain girl I know has tried.  So, without further adieu…

  1. Follow them everywhere
  2. Moo when they say your name
  3. Pretend to have amnesia
  4. Run around with a lampshade on your head yelling ‘the sun! its dying!’
  5. Run into walls
  6. Have nervous breakdowns at spontaneous times
  7. Stand over them at 4 in the morning with a huge grin on your face and yell ‘good morning sunshine!’
  8. Snort loudly when you laugh, then laugh harder
  9. Run around in circles
  10. (more…)

Lowlifes update

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

It feels weird starting an update with the line ‘nothing much is happening’, but it is precisely this lack of activity that spurred this post.

Basically, the Lowlifes machine has been brought grinding to near-standstill by a number of circumstances and events.  Due to a mixture of our lead singer being either at a counseling session or in the hands of the police for the majority of the time, and the Download festival displacing band practices last week, we haven’t had a proper, full-band practice for yonks.

DiDA 50-second speed tour of Derby: Mk I

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

For a dry-run of the DiDA Project, I am required to make a 50-second movie about my hometown.  The following video took around an hour to shoot and two-and-a-half hours to compile.  It was created in the unreliable Windows Movie Maker.  It is being posted here so I can test embedding within web pages.

Video not playing? Click here to download the movie. It’s WMV format – sorry to all you mac and linux users – I’ll have an mpeg in the media section soon.

(more…) slips into LFC top 20

Monday, June 12th, 2006

For some reason truely beyond my understanding, my website has managed to find its way into my school‘s top-20 most visited websites.

I was informed this by the head of IT at LFC, who has taken to addressing me as ‘Mr orangeacid’ whenever he fancys a chat about my site.  I think he’s still unaware that he is referred to informally as ‘bazzaaaa!’.

It is beyond me how a personal, blog based site with barely enough content to keep anyone amused for more than five minutes has achieved this.  Surely it could only be the gallery or  I’m not complaining though, keep the visits coming and I’ll keep up the updates 😀

Random posts to fill the void

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

It occurred to me that now I have restarted this blog, I don’t really have any content.  So, I created a new category just to post random crap in, and I’m just going to post some random crap now to fill the space 🙂

Two days ago, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a very substantial Crate amp from Sound Control, Derby.  I decided to get a GT1200H half-stack, as they were in a sale for a ridiculous price.  It seemed a good idea at the time, and it will be great for gigs, but at any one time it blocks access to at least one of my cupboards or wardrobes, and is so loud that I have to set it to approximately 1/10th power… and even this is too much for the ‘rents.
